In this episode, hosts Heather Vinge Hanson and Emily Rasmussen and joined by Ellen Pitcher and Stephanie MacFarland to discuss reactions to the book Never Not Working: Why the Always-On Culture is Bad for Business and How to Fix It! by Dr. Malissa Clark that was discussed at the March GLOW Book Club.
The book allows the reader to reflect on topics relating to overwork and burnout from an individual and organizational level. She also, "...delivers a comprehensive, nuanced definition of workaholism, busting myths along the way—working long hours, it turns out, doesn't automatically make you a workaholic. She also helps you assess whether you're falling prey to the phenomenon and whether you're creating workaholics in your organization."
The book definitely allowed for a great conversation! We hope listeners will enjoy hearing highlights from the discussion and are able to reflect on their own feelings toward overwork.
